It was great to take John and Jan Bodenham‘s lovely 5yo Unicorn by Uniqhors 🦄 to Rackham on the weekend to jump a lovely double clear, becoming more confident every time he goes out! He warmed up lovely and went in around the arena to spotted some scary extra white boards and letters staked up in the corner but his mature mind allowed him to become desensitised to them by the time we left the arena which scored us a 32. Showjumping was rather entertaining whilst he decided to hump when the bell went and then went on to jump a lovely clear round however a few time faults. I came to the conclusion as he humped again out of the start box that he is very much enjoying himself so decided to let me canter on a bit across country. So professionally in front of the fences for a young horse meant he jumped clear with just a few time faults however at this level it is all confidence building for him as I hope he will be one for the future. We also had stablemate and prize winning pony Emily Bodenham’s DSL Mermaid 🧜‍♀️ who also jumped a lovely confident double clear to finish 4th on her dressage of 30. Just taking it all in her stride I could not be more proud how she has taken to eventing. Whilst Emily is just coming off the side-lines I think she will be eyeing her up to steal her back off me very soon.
It was also a great day out to support our Head Girl Tara Jefferies on her horse Good Boy Alex that we are producing. One down SJ and a confident clear cross country in the 100 giving her a fantastic feeling. Looking forward to seeing how these two will develop by the end of the season.
Extremely new to the yard is Felicity Bull and her lovely horse Squirrel also competed with us and had two down SJ and a great round cross country . Giving us things to work on however giving us a lot of confidence that they will form a strong partnership with great things to come.
